The Cow Tower, Norwich

December 2008. The long and winding riverside path that leads past The Cow Tower to Bishop Bridge is the trail walked by condemned witches who were taken to a nearby pit to be burned alive. At dusk each day the gates along this path are locked, and it's a lonely place to be when you are the last one through... but perhaps you are not alone, for wasn't that another step you heard, other than your own? And isn't there the smell of smoke in the air...?
